I have been reading the list for a few weeks now ... perhaps is it time to ask a
short question ?
I had the opportunity to start again playing in a band a few months ago. It also
gave me the opportunity to play my bass clarinet that I have been neglecting for
quite a long time. I (re)discovered how interesting and rich is this instrument
and I wish I won't forget it again.
Wishing to buy a new mouthpiece for my bass clarinet and being in France I
suuposed that I will have to test for the Vandoren or Selmer ones (any advices
will be welcome). I am now using a Selmer G which was with the clarinet (Buffet
crampon) when I purchased it and is quite open. Reading the different web sites
from the list sponsor, I found a sentence from W.G. Grabner saying :
"One thing I really enjoy in these (moutpieces) is the ability to slur up to
clarion F#, G, G#, and A, with a feeling of security. "
Therefore, I was wondering if some characteristics in bass mouthpiece (opening,
table length etc...) could facilitate this clarion register which is "risky" for
me (and maybe for others).
Thank you for the past and futur interesting comments that I dayly enjoyed in this
list.
