I think what I was agreeing with Michael on was with regard to the same
performers that we have seen in the past. Big names are ok by me - it's
just that the same circle of people get rotated in frequently. These are
often performers we see at the OK Symposium and the one held in Sept/Oct
(can't remember where that is - Montana?). At any rate - there are an
awful lot of superb teachers/performers at the "minor" colleges.

I think new performers or young performers are great. I would simply like
to see a greater representation of the membership of ICA rather than the
same select representation. For example, one member told me a couple of
years ago that he was thinking of not renewing his ICA membership because
he had attended 6 Fests - all had the same general people playing during
the 6 year period and he had been refused twice. I never did ask if he
remained a member of ICA - I think he did. He likes the journals............

Absolutely right! It gets tough by the third day. One can only listen to
clarinet music for so long before turning back to the local Oldies station
for relief! I love the best of the best of the best (to quote a favorite
movie of mine) classical/serious/deep literature - but I can't take too
much in one week - I get burned out.
