It seems to me that a ClarinetFest should have both --- some big
names and some newcomers.

What counts (IMO) about newcomers is whether they play well enough
to hold my attention. I wouldn't spend big $$$ to listen to the likes
of.... myself, for example.... unless it was part of a class where the
teacher makes the listening worthwhile.
