If its the Col Gabriel I'm thinking about, Its probably the retired conductor from the Air Force Band - not the Army Band. He still conducts several community bands in the Northern Virginia area. I had the honor of playing under his baton for All Regional and All State band many many years ago. Best conductor I ever worked with. He had the scores memorized......blew me away.... you'll enjoy the workshop. The Army's rehearsal space is great too on historic Ft Myer post in Arlington. I love going to their concerts there. Funny.. i have a gig on the mall that afternoon too with the community band I'm in. We're leading the marchers for a breast cancer walkathon around the reflecting pool at 5 pm that day.
