Subj: [kl] Uneven 'wear' on mouthpiece
Date: Sun, 6 May 2001 13:27:43 -0400

Is it a common thing for one side of the mouthpiece to show more
'wear' (loss of surface gloss) on one side of the mouthpiece than the
other side --- where embouchure makes contact alongside the reed?

I presume that, if this is caused by facial anatomy, then there's
not much a person can do about it, whereas if it is caused by uneven use
of muscles, perhaps correction is possible. But what I'd like to know
is: is this unusual or does it happen to many people?

Thank you,
Bill
