Klarinet Archive - Posting 000101.txt from 2001/05
From: "Mark Charette" <charette@-----.org> Subj: [kl] Warning - A Klarinet member is accidentally sending a virus. Date: Thu, 3 May 2001 05:59:26 -0400
It seems as if a member has a virus on her machine - mharris@-----.com -
that will be sent to people posting on Klarinet in the last day or so.
DO NOT OPEN THE MAIL from Miriam Williams unless you have an active
anti-virus program! It contains a virus called W32.Badtrans.13312@-----.
>From the SARC:
"Due to an increase in the number of submissions, W32.Badtrans.13312=mm has
been upgraded to a Category 4 threat. It is a MAPI worm that replies to all
unread mails in your email message folders, and drops a backdoor Trojan. "
See
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.badtrans.13312@-----.html if you
do accidentally open it.
This kind of thing can happen to anyone if they drop their guard just for a
moment ...
