Different companies use different grading scales. It would be too easy
otherwise! Vandorens tend to be stiffer for their respective number than
Mitchell Luries. I believe Mitchell Luries top out at 5 1/2, roughly
equivalent to a Vandoren 4 1/2 or a V-12 5 (according to information
supplied by Vandoren).
