Agreed. I simply was responding to what bill wrote about how people seemed
to be balancing reeds more on how they appeared than as to whether or not
they were responding properly, etc.
There is always a certain "feel" I get with a good reed...I may not always
be able to describe it exactly, but I know it, and I do try to be patient
with a reed and wait a few days before beginning to do any work on it.
Also, for me, articulaion is a key thing. If I do not get nice crisp
staccato, then, the reed is worthless to me. nothing is worse to listen to,
IMHO< than a clarinetist with muddy tonguing.
