Subj: [kl] Connection of upper and lower keys
Date: Wed, 2 May 2001 22:30:21 -0400

Hello!

On my (3 year old) RC Prestige the connection of the keys of the upper
joint with the keys of the lower joint is not working
smoothly. Assembling upper and lower joint close together entails that
the two pieces of the connection are rubbing against themselves, they
are too close together. I have to uncompress (pull out) upper and
lower joint by, let say, the tenth part of a millimeter (the gap
between upper and lower joint is hardly to see), then there is no
problem.

But this is not very satisfying: Each time I assemble the clarinet I
have to pull out the lower from the upper joint a little bit. I tried
to fix the screw on the upper joint repsonsible for the rings on the f
and the f# holes (it was only fixed up to half a rotation); but then
the problem is even worse. On the other hand, further unfixing the
screw does not help.

Any hint how to fix the problem? Or is this a case for the repairs
man? Or is this rather "normal"/usual and I should live with it?
Any comment is welcome.

(I hope that my message was comprehensible in spite of my poor
english.)

Greetings
Dirk
