I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on how to improve the
tone/quality of my clarinet on a budget.
I've recently come off of a 7-year hiatus (last played in college) and still
have my basic Artley clarinet. It did very well for me throughout my high
school and college stints, as long as I used quality reeds. Now, I have
joined a community orchestra and have been selected to play in a trio for
our June concert. I would like to ensure that I give a quality performance
on my student clarinet, as purchasing a better one is out of the question on
my current budget.
Are there any recommendations as to ways to improve my overall sound, such
as a new mouthpiece? My current one is a basic Selmer. Being out of the
music world for a while, I'm a little rusty!
Any tips/advice is appreciated!
Thanks.
