I also had a Selmer 9* which also cracked - in the early 80's. I got it
fixed with a pin - I'm not sure how they did it, however. I had a split
under the throat A key and one on the back near the thumb rest. The
repairer warned me that you could only do this procedure so many times and
then it possibly wouldnt work again. He believed it was because it was
brand new and I didnt oil it enough, but I know of a few people who have had
the same problem with these selmers, do you think it is a weakness with
these particular clarinets?
( I got the clarinet stolen anyway - silly me didnt have it insured.)

My Selmer 9* Bb cracked in the mid-sixties. It was banded with a silver
band. (I don't remember the details.) I never noticed a difference between
the way it played before. The A never cracked.
