Fred,

One of the reasons I like a Rovner ligature is because I can shift the
reed slightly left or right to find the balanced response placement.
In other words, I don't try to adjust a reed if shifting will work.

Adjusting is neccesary when the reed is not consistant: for instance--
works best chaleaumo left, clarion right, and altisimo left.
