Our community band director wrote
this for me to forward to your clarinet list..; he uses the MUTS for
long rehearsals and playing for restaurants in his Dixie group......
Dear list folks:

I have the solution to your hand, wrist, elbow problems. It is the
MUTS, an
invention made by Michael Benthin (benthin@-----. It attaches to
the
;clarinet by double stick tape and doesn't violate the wood in any way.
The
complete support of the instrument is passed from just below the thumb
rest
(your thumb does not touch the devise) to the seat you are sitting on
via an
adjustable tube in a sleeve. Best of all, there is a spring that keeps
the
tube from "bottoming out." By turning the clarinet you can put the bell
on
your leg. You can move easily toward or away from the music or use it
standing
with a belt devise. You sit on a pad that receives the tube and secures
it.

I was at the point of quitting the clarinet when Mike made one of these
for
me. I'm playing without pain more than ever now. I highly recommend it
to
you.
