Recent discussion reminded me of a book, 'Philharmonic', by whom I now
don't recall, that included a tyrant guest-conductor called Paul
Klange, and his visits to the Boston Philharmonic. It was one of those
books that managed to get quite a lot right about the musical side of
things whilst being entertainingly OTT in other ways.

I remember that the first oboist decides to assassinate Klange by
shooting him *during the concert*. Then of course there's Dorothea, the
principal cellist, who is the lover both of Klange and the young
whizzkid conductor/composer/pianist (Danny?), unsure of his sexual
orientation.....

Anyone else remember this? Who was the author?
