Dear "Highest Note" (Squeak) Fans -

All this time spent on "Highest Clarinet Note" brought to mind something my
teacher said way back in my pre-historic student days: "If you want to
really mess up your embouchure, spend a lot of time messing around above
high A (5th ledger space)" It seemed like good advice, so I took it. I
add, though, that the upper register is much easier since switching to
double lip last year.

Editorial comment - Whatever so-called composer/arranger writes these super
high notes for Bb soprano clarinet, must have spent a lot of time sleeping
in orchestration class. Someone should have introduced him/her to the Eb
soprano clarinet or the piccolo. They would be a lot more effective
musically than expecting a Bb clarinetist to perform circus stunts and sound
musical at the same time.

Yes, there are. Few pieces call for these notes, but it is possible to play
up to (at least) the G an octave and a half above thumb and register.
They're not that easy to get in tune, and you really need the right reed
(which will be one that you ordinarily wouldn't play on because it's too
stiff) The Sim fingering book (300 fingerings and 280 trills - I know I've
got these numbers wrong, but they're probably not that far out) lists
fingerings up that high.

Wait, do you mean there are notes above the C above thumb and register?
Really? Or do you mean that there are notes above just C thumb and register.
I know there are notes higher than that. I know only up to the C above C
thumb and register.
