Subj: [kl] mozart concerto and cadenza

I just played the first movement of the mozart concerto for a =
concerto competition here at dartmouth and one of the comments the =
judges made was "thank you for not playing a cadenza". I wasn't =
able to ask him why he said that, all i know is that my edition =
didn't have a cadenza in the first movement. I don't think he said =
that because he hated my playing (thanks to him I got 2nd), but I =
don't understand.

Is there a stigma against the cadenza ? Where would the cadenza go =
in the first movement ? I'm just asking out of curiosity

Thanks

Jean
