I'm interested in feedback about pads. I just had to have my Rossi A
clarinet serviced because several pads were loose. The tech told me that he
wasn't equipped to replace the valentino pads on the instrument, and
suggested cork. I figured that would be ok because I can always have Luis
Rossi or someone else do valentinos when it becomes necessary or if I didn't
like the effect of the cork. Interestingly, the tech replaced 6 pads with
cork, and now the instrument sounds better than ever. I am assuming there
was some leakage occuring before that I had adjusted too. I don't really
see any drawback of the cork pads. They are only at the top of the
instrument, and not the register key or bottom keys. I suppose they might
be a little more brittle with respect to legato playing. What are your
thoughts about pads?

Many thanks,
