This morning, Maine PBS played a wind quintet composed by a person whose
name I got as Antoine de Mirne, but who is probably the Antoine Dauvergne
who appears in the Harvard CDM. (And who I suspect spelled his name
d'Auvergne, since he was born in Moulins [1713] which is in the province of
Auvergne.) A search of the Sneezy composer database turns up only an
instrumental group "d'Auvergne", but no person. Is anyone familiar with
this wind quintet and its composer?

Antoine d'Auvergne, sometimes spelled as "Dauvergne", was borne in Moulins
de Clermont-Ferrand on October 3, 1713 and died in Lyon in February 1797.
His first job was with the Grand Opéra, where he played the violin. Later he
became superintendant (I hope that 's the right translation). He was mainly
a composer of operas in the genre "comique" and "tragédie-lyrique" (comec
and tragic-lyrical operas), but also a few motets and a few instrumental
works. Alas I don't know his quintet. Hope you enjoyed it.

By the way: which state is indicated by "ME"?
