I've just recently installed the Kooiman thumb rest on my clarinets. I
was ready to have them removed when I showed them to a physical therapist
who works with hands and arms. She showed me how to position it optimally
for my hand, and it now feels great. Much less stress on the right hand
from holding the instrument, and the fingers of the right hand seem to be
moving more freely. The PT pronounced the Kooiman to be the best
engineered solution to the thumb problem that she's ever seen.
