Before I get corrected by someone currently playing SP, it is possible I'm
getting my musicals mixed up. If it wasn't SP, it was Brigadoon, which I
think is a Lerner and Lowe (sp?) musical, which called for A and Bb. Or
maybe it was Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, or both, or all three.
Certainly the G&S parts I have played called for both instruments. I do
recall, however, that playing South Pacific was more "fun" musically than
Oklahoma (IMHO). ---Gavin.

Robert Russell Bennett scored most of Rogers and Hammerstein's musicals.

Gee, I don't remember that, and I once CONDUCTED a production of South
Pacific! Of course, I don't think anyone in our little community theater
group OWNED an A clarinet anyway, so it is a moot point.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is TOO LOUD!
