I never found a different posting from Dan. I was on this list somewhere
around 1995, when the www still did not exist, and was already at that time
convinced Dan must be some retired clarinettist who had devoted a large part
of his nonprofessionally playing life to the history of the clarinet and its
music. I remember a discussion on this list about how to play a certain bar
in he Mozart concierto, where Dan had decided not to participate into the
discussion during some time, but once he decided to do so, he just hit the
mark so precisely i never would like to play the Mozart otherwise.

Fortunately I didn't save his remarks, so I will have to find out again, and
that is, i think, exactly, what Dan wants to occur: people should listen to
his opinions, ponder them over, but accept or reject them, just as they
might like it.
