I have a Noblet C clarinet that I bought off of Ebay after looking for a
used one for months. This was before the Amati or Buffet were an option. I
paid $700 used - which was more than I wanted to - but it arrived in perfect
condition.

The Noblet is the only one I have experience with. I like it quite a bit
and have not complaints. It has good intonation and sounds good to me. My
Bb clarinet is a Yamaha Professional model. At one point my sax teacher,
who also plays clarinet, played my C clarinet and pronounced the sound
"hollow" but that was after he told me that all C clarinets sound "hollow"
so I didn't take it that seriously.

If the Buffet had been an option I probably would have bought that as it was
quite a bit cheaper than a new Noblet. As it was I watched Ebay and
searched the web for months to find a used one.

I would suggest checking out the Woodwind and Brasswind in Paris
(www.woodbrass.com) and www.saxshop.nl and getting a price on the Buffet.
I've dealt with the folks at www.saxshop.nl on a few saxophones and
everything they've sent me was perfect and far cheaper than it would have
been in the US even with shipping.
