Subj: [kl] Experiences with intermediate C clarinets

Dear Listers,

Having so far had no luck in my search for an inexpensive C clarinet, I am
driven to considering a new intermediate instrument. There seem to be only
three such listed in the WW&BW catalog, which are (in decreasing order of
price): LeBlanc Noblet Artist 45C ($1480), Buffett-Evette E-11C ($794),
and Amati ACL351 ($690). All are wood, regular Boehm. (The "sell" price
on the Noblet is calculated from some assumptions, since the web site is
broken, but from the list price comparison, it is quite a bit more
expensive than the other two.)

I would be interested in hearing from persons who own and/or have played
any or all of these instruments, especially the Amati which is a real
unknown to me. I would also be interested in comments from repair techs as
to the quality of the construction of these horns.

If you think your answer would not be useful to the list, you can email me
privately. Any input gratefully accepted.
