As a new-comer to this list I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Gordon Palmer. Age 53. I've always lived in Auckland, New
Zealand.

I learnt flute as a teenager, and over the years added piccolo and taught
myself clarinet and saxophone. I seldom listen to music but for leisure I
play these instruments at a high standard in musical theatre 'shows', to
date 156 productions, and sing in a choir.

My career went from home appliance repair and flute/clarinet teaching, to
school teaching (general subjects plus extra
maths/science/music/orchestra/choir) for 12 years, to computer programming
(Cobol) for 4 years, and gradually on to woodwind/sax servicing, which grew
from word of mouth after I 'repaired' my Haynes flute that had been squashed
by a car and written off in 1968.

Since 1986 repairing woodwind repairs has been my 'full time' job. I am
entirely self-taught, work by myself in a comprehensively equipped, cramped,
home workshop, and have a reputation second to none in New Zealand for
quality workmanship.

I recently studied part time, largely for recreational leisure and qualified
in Mechanical Engineering. The rest of my life includes a great diversity of
interests and activities.

I look forward to an interesting association with other list members.

Gordon
