This is a "non-PC" question for me to ask, but have you (or any
other donor) any method to verify the legitimacy of this request? Is
the 'student' really a music student or a reseller?

One of my daughters received a similar request from a young person
in Russia once, but the request was for Levi jeans and the potential for
scam was more obvious.

Jonathan Cohler posted a similar request from a Rumanian student
here a few weeks ago.
