I know what you mean Dan.........I arrived at work two hours early today to
make 6 mouthpieces. I was accosted by our cello teacher begging me to
please rerecord her two note double stop on the opening of the Brahms
Double Concerto (Violin and Cello with Orchestra) because she couldn't
sleep at night with the knowledge that it was out of tune. Two hours
later, after a stereo mic/portable dat recording in her office and an
edited version of the two notes spliced into the concert performance - I
began work on the mouthpieces.
Only to be interrupted by a student wanting to work on reeds and explain
why she was unprepared for her lesson - followed by conducting class in
which only 4 out of 7 were well-prepared (above average actually), followed
by a clarinet student who didn't practice the Fantasia and Rondo by von
Weber over break - and the pianist was even more unprepared - so I was a
nice guy and spoon fed it to them.
I had a bottle of Bolla Soave (1986 - great year) tonight, followed by a
very tough watching of West Wing from last week - which I had not had time
to watch - and didn't get to watch it because my youngest son needed help
with his homework. My oldest son complained that he didn't get to watch it
either (he was at boy scouts) and that his mother wanted him to go to bed
early because of a scouting trip over the weekend and two late nights
following due to friends and weekend. My youngest son is mad at me because
I wouldn't play chess with him following homeowrk (bedtime), and my wife is
asking when I'll get off the computer and come up and help with the boys.
May I switch places with you for a day?????
