.....of course, some scientists would argue that rational thought
_does_ rely on 'feelings' and the neurological structures that produce
them.

But I suspect that, in this discussion, Dan and Neil are using
"feeling" more in the sense of "vague and not precisely defined or
thought out."

...which again relates to the need for (or the inadequacy of?) of
formal langage.
