Subj: [kl] Recording of Brahms 1?
Date: Sun, 1 Apr 2001 20:38:35 -0400

I have a question for the recording gurus out there. Our local public
radio station produces a show of old recordings once a week, and this
week there was a recording of Brahms Symphony No. 1, recorded in 1939,
conducted by Felix Weingartner - London Philharmonic, I believe, though
at my age short term memory is the first thing to go! I'm doing this from
memory because I heard it in my car.

The question of the day - who was the really wonderful clarinetist, whose
sound shone through even the scratchy crappy recording?

TIA

David
