Did I start something? Ooops! :)

First, I want to apologize to Jonathan Cohler. Where his
announcement/advertisement did (and still does, BTW) bother me somewhat, his
has certainly not been the only. It just so happened that his reply (which was
excerpted in my last post) disturbed me to a point that I felt the urge to
comment further. My less-than-hostile (and certainly not vitriolic,
Audrey...although I will freely admit to a touch of sarcasm!) response was
only to bring up points that I feel detract from what this 'discussion'
board/list was once-upon-a-time. Mr. Cohler's post simply was caught in the
crosshairs of my proverbial bow--it could have been anyone, I suppose. For the
record, I actually own a couple of his CDs and (also actually!) enjoy them.

That being said, please permit me to address a couple of the comments posted
in response to my post (after which, my lips are sealed!).

I honestly--and still do, BTW--regard the post-in-question as an
advertisement. The fact that Mr. Cohler happened to attribute it to 'his'
recording company was not exactly, as Kevin Fay stated, 'very clever.' I'm not
exactly sure what label to attach to it, but a tad bit unforthcoming(is that a
word?) is probably closer to my interpretation.

Again, although I was contrary in my earlier post, I did say "if you want to
let people know what you're doing, fine." Perhaps, a short statement to that
effect with a reference to a web page with further details would be more
appropriate. This way those who are interested would follow suit and others
(such as myself, perhaps?) could quickly move on. While I feel that
advertisements of any kind should find a place elsewhere (as opposed to
Kevin's sentiments--and, BTW, opportunities to do so plentifully exist in
other sections of Sneezy), this could be a half-decent attempt at a
compromise.

Mr. Cohler is quite correct in his assertion that "this was based on years of
watching concert announcements such as the one below (from today) flow through
my inbox." Again, I apologize to him as he was following whatever the protocol
seems to be.

But, really now--there's more than a fine line between discussion and
promotion.
Obviously, most of us just can't make it (and I certainly hope Carol can find
a flight to the concert and report back to us) to the show. If Mr. Cohler
would like to share this performance with us, however, he could do so without
seeming to have 'his' recording company pandering to us (sorry....much too
strong...petty... ;)).

Why not offer a delayed non-downloadable feed/stream over the recording
company's web site of all of part of your live concert? If nothing else, it
would be great....uhhhh...advertising for your CDs!

And, besides, many (but not all) would be interested in hearing it. Have a
good concert!
