Roger, I said play them successfully, not just get through them. And you're
not talking to some 2nd year student or anything here. Many years ago I
myself was on scholarship at New England Conservatory in Boston, was
talented and had great teachers from the Boston Symphony, and yes, played
many concerts in Jordan Hall, (so you see I wouldn't really have needed any
moral support from you!) But still at my best I'm honest enugh to say I
couldn't approach the level of artistry of a Jonathan Kohler. When you're at
the Conservatory level, there's no pretending--everybody KNOWS who's the
best and respects that. I know these pieces. The Copland alone is a workout
enough, and then he's going to play all the others...I still say it's a hell
of a concert. If you can play a concert of this calibre, with everything
involved, maybe we should be paying money to see you play!
