Subj: [kl] Pleyel clarinet concerto?
Date: Sun, 25 Mar 2001 22:35:14 -0500

Sick as a dog on a Sunday night, desperately trying to catch
up on a backlog of c-r-a-p at work. Having the office to my-
self, I'm listening to a classical music station broadcasting
out of Hamburg, Germany (Klassik Radio, it's called). Couldn't
figure out for the entire performance who the artist was that
I just heard, which was surprising b/c I can usually identify
players very quickly. Sounded like Dieter Kloecker's tone,
but much more musical than I've ever heard Dieter play. I
never would have guessed...Paul Meyer, nor that it was a
concerto by Pleyel. Did I understand the announcer cor-
rectly? Anybody ever heard or performed the Pleyel? What
a delightful concerto. And I wonder what Meyer was playing
on when he performed it ~ surely not an RC Prestige. Maybe
even a period instrument? I'm curious.
