Not that I know anything about recording or equipment, but...

I just bought the Sony MDZ-70 mini-disc recorder, and have used it a few
times successfully with the ECM-939LT Sony mic (like a squared off
finger, with a mount to attach it to a mic stand with adjustment to any
angle vertically). I thought the sound was pretty good, esp. for a 15
year old mic.

my $0.02, worth even less given my recording expertise!
