I 've owned a Buffet R-13 Eb for a number of years and recently purchased a
Patricola Rosewood Eb (also from Lisa). Between the two, the Patricola is
heads and shoulders better than the Buffet (at least mine). I use a Lurie
mouthpiece with the stock barrels. The intonation, especially in the upper
register (to G) is excellent - no alternate fingerings needed!
Being made of Rosewood, the sound is not as bright. The impression is of an
extended range Bb, which works for me. Also the keywork is first-class.
I've done several recording sessions with this Italian beauty, with positive
results.
