What show had the kazoo parts for the woodwind players, 'Forum', 'Bye, Bye
Birdie'? I can't remember, but anyway, I bought the kazoos and passed them out
at the when we entered the pit. When the part came up we were all game enough
to try to sing our part into the kazoos. What a hellish noise - no one could
sing in tune enough to even remotely resemble a tune it sounded like a wild bee
hive run-amuck. We all cracked up so bad that we could no longer play. The
drummer and piano player played louder for the rest of the piece and after that
we could not look any other player in the eye without losing control like a
bunch of elementary school kids. The front row audience looked into the pit to
see what that weird noise was. The actors didn't have a clue. We got hell that
night. Luck we weren't all fired.
