For Buffet Eb clarinets, the Chaddash barrels are the best i have found to
work on them. I'm not exactly up to date on barrel prices, but i believe
Chaddash barrels cost between $100 and $120.

Hi all,

A few years ago my grandfather (a retired band director) gave me a Buffet
R13
Eb soprano clarinet. I don't know its exact age, but I am guessing it is
about 40 years old. The clarinet is in good condition except for a large
crack in the barrel. It appears to have been glued several times, but keeps
opening up and I cannot have it pinned because I am told it is too small.
Thus far, I have not had a use for it in my high school band, but I am
headed
off to college next year and would like to make this instrument playable.
Does anyone know where I might get a Buffet Eb clarinet barrel and the
approximate price? Also, I have a feeling this will be an expensive
endeavor. Is there another solution, such as a used barrel or a better
repair method?

Your help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Robyn
