I just got a Sony Essential Classics CD (for $4.95) of the Cleveland Pops
Orchestra performing Copland's Outdoor Overture and three dances from Rodeo.
The recordings were made in the summers of 1958 and 1961, and the wind
playing is spectacular. The trumpet, clarinet, oboe and bass clarinet are
particularly noteworthy. I'm guessing that this was the Cleveland Orchestra
on summer hiatus. Does anyone have definitive information.
