Here in our Nation's Capital, for years now we've only had one "full-time"
classical music station (WGMS), and they've gotten so bad that (a) there's maybe
4 hours of actual music played in any 24-hr. period, after all the blabber and
advertisements; and (b) they are so conservative in their programming that very
little post-Mozart is ever played. Occasionally they get as 'modern' as Brahms
and act very proud of themselves for their boldness! It's pathetic and
discouraging that, in an area as crowded with affluent/well-educated/supposedly
cultured people as the DC metropolitan area, there is only enough market to
support one classical music radio station, and a poor excuse for one at that!
