A suggestion: There are (as probably you know already) many
different factors that can contribute to register jumps. If I were in
your shoes, I would pay a good teacher for a lesson or two and an
evaluation of the instrument. It's not just the $400 that the
instrument will cost. It's also the money that you may spend on
repairs, and the frustration that a flawed instrument can cause you.
Has a competent technician looked at the instrument and given you an
opinion?
