Steve Hartman, principal clarinet, was taking his bows after finishing

When my teacher saw me using lanolin as cork grease, she decided
that she liked it better than the commercial stuff also. But
apparently it *is* a better lubricant than the commercal stuff, because
a few weeks later her Bb clarinet fell apart during a performance.
I've been meaning to ask her whether she stuck with lanolin or has gone
back to the commercial product.
So far, nothing of this sort has happened to me... but then I've
haven't been subject to the distractions of being on stage, and so I
don't 'forget' what's happening with my clarinet from moment to moment.
