Stewart,

Sometimes fatigue sets in prematurely because of excessive tension somewhere
in the embouchure. Ironically, that can come as a result of too little
resistance as well as resistance caused by reed imbalance. In neither case
is the problem caused by too heavy a reed or too open (or short) a facing
curve. I can't say that any of these is your problem, but each is a
possibility.
