Perhaps I've lost touch with 'the real world', but IMO, teaching
methods that encourage or reinforce situations like this one are not
what music education should be about.
NothingToHide made the correct choice, of course, and I'm very glad
for him or her (?). He or she will walk away from this situation
feeling like a decent human being.
But when I hear the hypercompetitive aspects of music and the
thoughts to which this hypercompetitive attitude drives some people....
well, it sickens me.
