I have it on very good "background" that Yamaha is discontinuing the 72CX
line. I know of two "new" 72CX clarinets for sale at around $900-950
dollars, which puts them at about the same price as list price for the
Yamaha 52 series clarinets. That is a pretty good price for a really
decent clarinet.

I would imagine that one would be able to get around $800 for a used CX
-- slightly less than what used buffets are going for. This, however is
just a guess.
