Subj: [kl] switch to oboe?

Hi. I have been contemplating over the last couple of months whether or not I
should switch and double on oboe. My high school is in desperate need of one,
being that the only person that we have on it is a girl who can't get a
decent note out of it after several months. Plus, next year she is not even
going to play in band class, so that leaves a hole for all ensembles. So my
question is, do you think I should try the oboe? I really think I should, and
my current clarinet teacher is also a pronounced oboe player, so I could
either take lessons on both instruments, or switch to only oboe and keep my
same teacher. I am afraid to ask my band director though, he scares me a lot.
I think I'm gonna do it though. What do you think?
