Subj: [kl] Anybody ever heard of Lebanese composer, Marcel Khalifeh
Date: Thu, 8 Mar 2001 14:56:08 -0500

I went to Lincoln, Nebraska this past weekend to celebrate my 55th
birthday by participating in Dr. Diane Cawein's annual Midwest ClariFest
on Monday, March 5. Before the ClariFest, I went to the Mennonite church
on Sunday, and they had a potluck with all of the local Moslems from
Lincoln to Omaha. After the potluck, they showed a short documentary
film about the plight of the Moslems in Israel, and the background music
for the film was a beautiful clarinet solo with string accompaniment.
The composer's name was Marcel Khalifeh. Anybody ever heard of him? I
wasn't able to jot down the name of the documentary. It all happenned
very quicky.
The Midwestern ClariFest was a lot of fun. I had to go on right
before Richard Stoltzman's masterclasses, and I was afraid that I would
get stage fright in a concert hall, but I wasn't nervous at all and it
was a great birthday. ANNIE
