Good luck, Jay. I'm glad to hear, when push came to shove, that
"Jay's Clarinet" didn't need to sacrifice Percussion completely.

It may amuse you to hear an anecdote about my brother's son, who
was in a drum line that won a few awards.

His mother (my brother's wife) is a genteel housewife for the most
part. But her son, when he started college, chose to set his drums
aside and to concentrate on scholastics. I was a little mystified by
this because he is _good_ in my opinion. A month or two ago, Mom was
cleaning house, and she picked up her son's drum sticks and tried the
set out. She took to it instantly. It's fun to watch her standing
there in a long skirt and housewife's blouse and producing "right on"
"assertive" rhythms that would (to my ear) fit in with Stomp! She's
taking lessons now. It _is_ teachers who can make the difference.
She reminds me of the Little Old Lady From Pasadena except that it's
drums instead of an automobile.

....anyway, I've enjoyed reading your posts and, like the rest of
us, I realize life must go on and I wish you the best success.

Cheers,
Bill
