I need to leave the list for a while. I just don't have time to read
everything.

Before I go I wanted to update some of the people on the list concerning
the Jay's Clarinet and Percussion.

As I have mentioned before I have approximately 40 students now. Of Six
that auditioned for district two went on to Allstate. Three ending up
making the district bands.
One was just to nervous to actually audition.

In September I started a student a 21 year student who had been playing
Oboe. As a matter of fact she had a full scholarship to LSU and was
actually going there. After the first year she decided to come home and
quit the Oboe. When she came to me she knew very little about the
Clarinet. To make a long story short, in the brief time she has played the
Clarinet she has managed to prepare for an audition at Kennesaw State,
using the Mozart, and pass. It has quite amazing to watch her progress.
I'd like to take the credit for her success, but she is extremely
talented. Now that she has passed the audition she will probably go to the
teacher that I use for more refinement. My teacher, Kathy White, is
excellent at teaching musical interpretation as well as the finer points of
Clarinet playing.

On the Drum side, (otherwise know as the darker side), I had some success
in working with a brand new High School Drum Line. In this Drum Line,
which consisted of 7 freshman and on Sophomore, I managed to help them
achieve 1st place in Double A school outdoor competition. This was done
in a 2 month period. Believe me, when I started with them they could
barely walk and chew gum at the same time, much play anything close to a
cadence. I was amazed at how well they responded to my instructor
especially since I had to drill them quite heavily sometimes. Thankfully,
they were hungry to learn.

As some of you may remember, when I came on this list about 3 years ago
all I had was some memory of being a Hot Shot High School player. Thanks
to my teacher and information from this list I have been able accomplish a
great deal in a short time. I am thankful to each one you for help that
you have given me. I would also like to thank you for not having me kicked
off the list because of some of my poor attempts at bad humor.

Despite the successes, however, I'm not sure that I will be able to
continue doing what I am doing. As much as I love music and teaching, as a
father and husband I have a duty to take care of my family, which I am not
able to do at the present time. I'm not sure what I'm going to do at the
present time, but if necessary I'll start traveling again as I did before
started this venture last year.

Thanks again for everything,

Jay Webler
