Back in the mid-70's, Charles Bay used to unsolder the mouthpiece receiver on
bass clarinet necks, cut them, and resolder them. I had one done at the
school at which I taught. People were very curious about the Bay "upturned
neck," but it really made a difference in how the instrument played. I
can't remember how much he charged at the time, but that was before he began
making his own bass clarinet neck. I don't know if he will still redo the
neck that comes with the instrument or if he will only replace the neck with
his neck or just sell you his neck. You might try calling him.
