Thanks very much, Audrey.

Fortunately for all of us, the quake's epicenter was about thirty miles deep
-- what was felt at the surface registered a "mere" 4.7 on the University of
Washington's seismographs. Thankfully, there was almost no loss of life
(one lady had a heart attack, which might have been a coincidence). Most of
the mess is just messy -- a lot of cracks in the plaster, bricks fallen on
cars and the like. There will be some public works projects pushed forward
for sure.

All of the newspapers are carrying photos of the same 5 buildings.
Unhappily, one is a building in Pioneer Square that housed a nightclub (the
Fenix Underground) where I spent entirely too much of my misspent youth.
Our orchestra rehearsal had to move to a new location, as the building we
normally practice in was closed for structural review. We found a place to
play, though.
