Just got my copy of Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band's new CD, Swingin' for
the Fences.

Mr. Goodwin doesn't actually have a band -- he just wrote a few charts and
had some studio guys come in to run them down. Long-time hangers-on like
Bill Liston, Gary Grant, Jerry Hey, Wayne Bergeron, Bill Reichenbach, Grant
Geissman (you get the idea). Some folks like Eric Marienthal, Brandon
Fields and Arturo Sandoval also stopped by for the odd solo or two.

. . . oh, and he needed a clarinet player for a couple of the tunes. I
don't know who he tried to hire, but he had to settle for Eddie Daniels.

The band is phat indeed.
