The Pitt audition was won by Ron Samuels, principal clarinetist of my
hometown Toledo Symphony. A truly wonderful player and a good friend.
Whenever I sub with the Toledo Symphony I am delightfully reminded of his
gorgeous sound and his impeccable taste and expressiveness. He's been in the
finals for a million auditions since he came to Toledo 16 years ago. It was
long overdue. Yea Ron!
